Safety Guide: How to use SKOTTI

Safety Guide: How to use SKOTTI

Congratulations! You have purchased your SKOTTI Grill and are ready for adventure! To prepare yourself for the first trip, please read our safety guide! If you need help setting up, you can find more information here.

Using SKOTTI with isobutane

Before starting the SKOTTI Grill with any gas (isobutane or propane), please make sure to fill the bottom of the grease pan with about half an inch of water. This will prevent fat stains and make the cleaning process a lot easier. After that, simply connect the gas line to your isobutane canister, turn up the gas and light the grill through the hole at the end of the grill!

Using SKOTTI with propane

Please also make sure to fill the bottom of the grease pan with about half an inch of water before lighting the grill to prevent fat stains in the steel.

For usage with propane, we have designed the SKOTTI Connect propane adapter. It is a seperate gas line that connects to the regular 1lb propane bottles. Please make sure to not use the gas pipe that is delivered with the SKOTTI Grill, but the SKOTTI Connect. If you have difficulty identifying which one is the propane gas pipe, please compare the holes at the end of the pipe, where the pipe connects to the gas hose. The pipe with the bigger hole is the SKOTTI Connect propane pipe!

After you have assembled the grill with the right pipe and connected your propane bottle, light the grill and you are reaady to go!

Using the grill with wood/charcoal

Thanks to its removable gas pipe and radiator, you can also use SKOTTI with charcoal or wood, making it the perfect grill to have in the remote wilderness! In order to do that, you have to ensure a couple of things:

  1. When setting up the grill, please leave out the gas pipe and radiator, they are not needed for the use with charcoal or wood!
  2. Before filling the grill with wood or charcoal, please make sure to cover the bottom of the trey with about a quarter of an inch of sand or dirt. This will prevent the tray from bending! After the tray has been covered with sand or dirt, you can fill the grill with a reasonable amount of charcoal or wood. Too much wood or charcoal can warp the sides of the grill, so please be careful.
  3. Please do not use the tarp bag as an underlay for your grill. The heat below the grill can cause the bag to melt!

That's it, you're done setting up! You are now ready for your first adventures with SKOTTI, so make sure to have loads of fun! If you have any questions, please reach out to our customer service! They will get back as soon as possible!
